Melt Art - Miss You Square Card

Hello my crafty friends, hope you have a great weekend.  My daughter is back to school this week and our weekend was mostly just relaxing at home so that she can get back to her school schedule!

Today I am sharing with you guys my embossing powder adventure.  I don't normally play with messy things like embossing powder, not even when I was taking the Heat Wave class from Online Card Classes.  I only did one card for that class then gave up cause of the mess I made!

...but recently I had this melt art idea using embossing powder in my head that I just couldn't resist to try.  So I tried and again I made a mess (don't know when I would get smarter at this)!  However, when look at the beautiful result and the gorgeous colours, it is worth the clean up!

The stamp I used is Basic Grey Cling Stamp: Lauderdale, Floral from Hero Arts.  This background stamp is already retired.  Fortunately I found it is still selling at Frantic Stamper.

The other thing that I don't have a picture link below is the Zing Metallic Red embossing powder I used.

Border Up - Happy Birthday!

Hello my crafty friends.  I am back with a design focus, no fancy colouring, card.

I love to use the cloud edge from My Favorite Things as border cause it gives the border a more loose look.  To complement this beautiful border, I randomly stamped different sections of Dyan's Dylusions mix media stamps along the border using variety colours.  I also stretched the stamping upward to make the white space more interesting.  After I finished off the card with a Happy Birthday sentiment from Paper Smooches.  I decided the card needed some gold, so I added gold to the sentiment and the border edge using a gold gel pen.

Highlight Colouring on Background Stamp

Hello my creative friends.  This week I am sharing a card I made using a background stamp and highlight colouring.

I used My Favorite Things gorgeous Bundles of Blossoms background stamp for this technique.  I randomly inked up the whole background stamp with different colours and then coloured one of the flower with coloured pencils.  I could have used only one colour for the entire background but I thought I would try something different and see how it would turn out...and I like how it turned out!

To turn the image into card.  I trimmed the image into 4 x 5 1/4 and then used My Favorite Things' cloud die to die cut the part of the image I want.  I then die cut a background using the Diamond Background die from Poppystamps to make the background a little bit more interesting.  The shimmery rainbow colour background at the back was a scrap I have from another project.  It was made using distress ink and blending tool on a piece of pearlescent card stock.
